FAQs
How many sessions will I need?
Everyone’s therapeutic journey is individual. Following assessment we will have a better idea of your treatement needs and approximately how many sessions may be required to meet your therapeutic goals. Holding in mind that this type of psychological work is short-term, and delivered in a way to develop your independance in managing your own mental health for future. Psychological therapy is not always easy. Like everything that improves your life, this process will take some time and effort to get you where you want to be.
How often are sessions recommended?
It is recommended to have sessions regularly (weekly or fortnightly) to ensure there is momentum to the work together. Understandably there may be gaps in treatment for vacations or other life events, and planning for this in advance can ensure we stay on track. Once you have finished a full course of short term therapy, check-ins from time to time are recommended, to ensure you can stay on track with your independant practice.
What can I expect from Psychotherapy?
To be open to new ideas and to be willing to learn new skills for managing your mood. We will agree together “ practice tasks” for you to do in between sessions that relate to what you are going through. These might be something like practising an activity you find difficult or writing down important events or feelings to bring to the next session. This homework is an important part of what will help you feel better, and a large part of what makes therapy effective. It supports in integrating what is learned from the session into your day-to-day life and supports facilitating lasting change.
Pay It Forward
Give a session to someone in need, and I will match it!
For every session received via the pay-it-forward scheme, I will offer an additional session.
This allows me to offer some limited session pro-bono with your contribution. And directly supports those who cannot otherwise access psychological intervention.
Everyone struggles from time to time, and we all deserve support.
If you require assistance to access psychological support, please enquire to see if any ‘pay it forward’ sessions are available.
